Teens charged in bike theft
Two Queens teens are under arrest after they attempted to steal a bicycle from outside a bagel store in Hewlett on Tuesday morning, police said.
Anthony Campbell, 19, of Beach Channel Drive, Far Rockaway, and Cawaun Milam, 19, of Jamaica, were arrested on Broadway near North Wood Lane in Woodmere by officers responding to a 911 call.
Nassau County police said both teens were charged with second-degree robbery and both face arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Police said the attempted theft occurred in front of Bagelo bagels on Franklin Avenue at about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday.
Police said the 34-year-old victim saw the teens walking off with his bike, chased them and grabbed the bike back. During the altercation, police said one of the teens took a swing at the bike owner, but didn't injure him.
The owner then called 911.
