Thomas A. Adams named Nassau administrative judge

A Nassau Supreme Court justice was named Friday to take over the county's top judicial post.

The state's chief administrative judge, A. Gail Prudenti, has chosen Thomas A. Adams to be Nassau County's administrative judge. Adams will replace Judge Anthony Marano, who has been in that job nine years. Marano, who has reached the mandatory retirement age for his post, will remain a Supreme Court justice.

"It's an honor to be given the opportunity to serve the residents of Nassau County as administrative judge," Adams said Friday. "Integrity, fairness and accountability will be the cornerstones of my administration."

Adams has been a judge for 25 years, first serving in Nassau County District Court, then in Nassau County Supreme Court, a court spokesman said. He was appointed to the Appellate Division, Second Department, in February 2001, serving there until his appointment to the Court of Claims in December 2006.

Adams was re-elected to the Nassau County Supreme Court bench in November 2011.

He graduated from the New England School of Law, and started his career as an assistant district attorney and a law clerk in Nassau County Court.
