Merrick man arrested in hit-run that injured pedestrian

A Merrick man who fled after striking a pedestrian with his pickup truck in a Hicksville parking lot earlier this month has been arrested and charged with assault and leaving the scene of an accident, Nassau County police said Friday.

Thomas Dee, 53, of 22 Chapin Ave., faced arraignment in First District Court on the charges, police said.

Dee was driving his truck through the lot at 370 Old Country Rd. at about 11:15 p.m. on Sept. 10 when he struck a 60-year-old pedestrian, who was treated at a hospital for a head injury, police said.

Dee then hit a parked vehicle in the lot as he drove away, police said.
