Three Hempstead men have been charged with criminal possession of stolen property after they were found driving in a stolen car in Freeport on Tuesday, Nassau County police said.

Police received a 911 call that a 2010 black Nissan Altima was stolen from Rutland Road, and First Precinct officers on routine patrol saw the car heading west on Grand Avenue near Babylon Turnpike on Tuesday afternoon. They initiated a traffic stop in front of 22 Gill Ave. at about 4:25 p.m., police said, and arrested passengers Delroy Carter, 25, and Damien Pinckney, 36.

The driver, Dyshane Ravenell, 25, fled on foot, but was arrested on nearby Robin Court after a brief pursuit, police said.

Carter, of 118 Laurel Ave.; Pinckney, of 158 Lawson St.; and Ravenell, of 130 Elizabeth Ave. were charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, police said. Ravenell faces an additional charge of robbery from an open Nassau County warrant from earlier this month, police said.

All three were arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead. Court records show Delroy was released to probation, Pinckney was released Thursday on $10,000 bond, and Ravenell was held in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or bond.
