The hot, humid weather likely will bring thunderstorms on Thursday afternoon, and some could be severe, forecasters say.

Most of the storms will be after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures for most of the day will be in the low 90s.

A heat advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday for New York City, where the combination of heat and humidity will make it feel like 95 to 100 degrees, forecasters said.

Later Thursday night, thunderstorms in the region could produce heavy rains and cool off the temperature, which will be in the low 70s.

On Friday, there's a slight chance of thunderstorms and showers in the afternoon. The evening will be in the low 60s.

The weekend weather will be sunny and in the 80s during the day and in the 60s in the evenings.
