Tractor-trailer crashes into medical office

A tractor-trailer crashed into the side of a medical building early Friday on Franklin Street in Valley Steam, sparking a gas leak, police said. (Dec. 2, 2011) Credit: Paul Mazza
A tractor-trailer pulling out of a 7-Eleven parking lot in Valley Stream careened across a street and crashed into the side of a medical building early Friday, sparking a gas leak.
Nassau County police said the accident occurred on Franklin Avenue at about 6:30 a.m.
It was not immediately clear if anyone was injured in the accident.
Volunteers from the Valley Stream Fire Department and two Nassau police ambulances were on scene.
Witnesses said the cab of the tractor-trailer penetrated the side of the building, which is home to Long Island Cardiology Associates.
The cause of the accident was under investigation.
