An overturned dump truck closed eastbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway in Old Westbury for about two hours Wednesday.
Nassau County police investigated the accident, but no criminality was involved and there were no injuries, a spokeswoman said.
The spokeswoman said she had no details on what caused the one-vehicle accident.
The state Department of Transportation website showed an overturned truck blocking two middle lanes eastbound on the expressway Wednesday morning near Powells Lane.
Police issued a traffic alert shortly after 9 a.m. saying eastbound lanes of the expressway were closed at Exit 39, Glen Cove Road, because of the accident.
Before the traffic alert the site showed traffic clogged considerably as vehicles made their way around the overturned truck.
The accident was reported at about 8:52 a.m., according to the website. A webcam at the site showed that police and rescue teams opened the HOV lane to traffic at about 10:30 a.m. All four lanes reopened about 30 minutes later.
