Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a multiple-vehicle accident in Massapequa Tuesday night in which a backseat passenger was ejected, Nassau County police said.

Police said a 2000 Honda Accord driven by a woman, 25, was heading east on Merrick Road at about 8:47 p.m. when a 2000 Toyota Corolla made a left turn from the westbound lane onto southbound Roosevelt Boulevard.

The two cars collided, sending the Honda into an unoccupied parked car and the Toyota into another moving vehicle, a 2007 Ford Explorer.

A man, 18 in the backseat of the Toyota was ejected onto the road and taken to a hospital. He is listed in critical condition with "severe head trauma," police said.

The driver of the Honda was hospitalized with neck, back and arm injuries, police said. She is listed in stable condition.

Police said there appears to be no criminality related to the accident. Both vehicles were impounded for brake and safety tests.
