Two men assaulted, robbed in West Hempstead
Fifth Squad detectives are searching for four men who used a handgun to assault two men and steal a cell phone in West Hempstead Thursday night, Nassau County police said.
The four men got out of a dark, four-door sedan around 10:45 p.m. on Hempstead Gardens Drive and approached two 18-year-old men, asking them the time, police said. Then the four asked for money and began punching them.
Police said one of the four pulled out a small silver handgun and another went through the victims' pockets. After coming up with a cell phone but no money, police said the men fled in the sedan, driving east on Washington Avenue.
The two victims declined medical attention, police said.
Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers, 800-244-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
