The Hempstead Fire Department responds to a blaze at a vacant house at 36 Jerusalem Ave. in Hempstead Village. The fire was quickly brought under control by with no reported injuries. A vacant home was damaged by fire early Saturday in Hempstead Village, police said.

An officer on patrol spotted the fire at 36 Jerusalem Ave. about 12:30 a.m. The Hempstead Fire Department extinguished the fire, police said.

The home was vacant and there were no injuries, police said.
