Valley Stream man dies in parkway crash

An elderly Valley Stream man died at the scene of a one-car accident Thursday morning on the eastbound Southern State Parkway in North Valley Stream, State Police said.

Police said it was not clear if the victim, identified as W.E. McCahill, 82, suffered a medical episode before the crash.

The accident occurred at 3:08 a.m. east of Exit 15, Corona Avenue, police said.

Police said witnesses told them the car, a 2007 Cadillac, swerved off the road, onto the shoulder and into a stand of shrubs and trees.
