Valley Stream scouts salute World War II veteran on his 100th birthday

BSA Troop 109, from Valley Stream, on Tuesday honored World War II Navy veteran Julian Binetti on his 100th birthday. His family originally planned a big celebration for the milestone, but had to cancel it because of the coronavirus outbreak. So Troop 109 organized an “honor parade.” Uniformed Scouts surprised Gunner’s Mate First Class Binetti with a motorcade in front of his house--holding up signs with birthday wishes, honking their horns, waving American flags and saluting him.  Credit: Newsday / Alfonso Castillo
