A Valley Stream man who is a registered sex offender is being held in the Bergen County Jail on charges of attempting to endanger the welfare of a child and attempting to manufacture child pornography, according to that county's prosecutor.

Allan I. Davis, 58, was arrested without incident Friday in Bergen County, following an investigation by the prosecutor's computer crimes task force. According to a release on the prosecution's website, Davis arranged via the Internet with an undercover investigator whom he believed to be the mother of a 6-year-old girl to take nude photos of the child.

Davis is being held on $250,000 bail at the jail in Hackensack. He has been prohibited from using the Internet and was to be arraigned Tuesday in Bergen County Superior Court, according to the release.

Davis is registered with New York State as a level one sex offender, resulting from his 1999 arrest for traveling from Maryland to Florida to allegedly have sexual relations with a person he believed to be a 14-year-old female, said the release. Davis was also charged at that time with possession of child pornography, the release said.
