A woman sitting on a lawn chair in Valley Stream was robbed of her gold chains Friday afternoon, Nassau County police said.

The victim, an unidentified 63-year-old woman, was sitting outside on Broadway when a man approached her from behind and ripped the chains off her neck, detectives said. The woman resisted but was unsuccessful, and the suspect escaped heading westbound, toward Queens, police said. The woman suffered minor cuts to her neck.

Police describe the suspect as 6 feet tall, between the ages of 20 and 30, wearing a cream-colored T-shirt and plaid shorts, and having a Jamaican accent,
