The Wantagh High School boys varsity baseball team was honored at the high school’s homecoming on Saturday to commemorate the team’s state title.

The players and coaches received rings before the school’s football game in honor of the New York State Class A Championship they won in June, the school’s first since 1998.

The team also served as grand marshals of the superhero-themed homecoming parade. Each grade made floats corresponding to different characters; the freshmen had X-Men, the sophomores had Spiderman and the juniors had the Avengers. The senior class’ Justice League design was deemed the best float.

At halftime of the football game, seniors Logan Hartman and Cecilia Casella were named homecoming king and queen.

Wantagh went on to win its game against Lynbrook, 31-0.
