A 69-year-old Wantagh woman was killed in a house fire Saturday night, Nassau County police said.

The 7:57 p.m. fire on Stanford Court claimed the life of Wendy Bonilla, police said in a news release Monday morning.

Police arrived on scene after receiving a 911 call for a house fire shortly before 8 p.m. and the woman was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead more than an hour later.

Volunteers with the Wantagh, North Bellmore, Seaford and Bethpage fire departments worked to extinguish the fire, according to police.

Arson/bomb detectives and fire marshals were assisting in the ongoing investigation, police said.
