A water main break in Farmingdale village closed a residential street Tuesday morning.

Several workers from the village's department of public works are trying to repair the break, which left one house on Walter Place without water. Nearby nursing homes were not affected, a worker at the scene said.

The worker said the break may take about three hours to fix. Workers have to dig a hole around the broken pipe, pump water out of the hole, and then attach a large metal clamp to seal the leak.
