Beachgoers beware.
There is moderate risk for rip currents at ocean beaches Sunday, according to officials from the National Weather Service.
To stay safe if rip currents are nearby, officials say people should swim at lifeguard-protected beaches, and stay at least 100 feet away from piers and jetties. They also suggest using polarized sunglasses when at the beach because they will help you spot signatures of rip currents by cutting down glare and reflected sunlight off the ocean's surface.
Also, if caught in a rip current, officials say swimmers should never fight against the current but instead remain calm to conserve energy and think clearly. Officials say swimmers should continuously step to the side of the current, and swim out of the current in a direction following the shoreline. When out of the current, officials say people should swim away from the current and toward the shore.
If you are unable to swim out of the rip current, officials say you should float or calmly tread water and draw attention to yourself by waving your arms and yelling for help if you can't get out of the current.
The National Weather Service said that temperatures will be in the 70s and 60s during the day most of this week and will fall to the 50s by night.
