A West Babylon man faces burglary charges after allegedly selling stolen items to a pawnshop, Nassau County police said Friday.

Robert David Avena, 19, of 130 Magaw Place, is charged with two counts of second-degree burglary and fourth-degree criminal possession of a stolen property, police said.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.

Both burglaries happened in South Farmingdale, police said.

Avena used a brick to break a rear sliding-glass door on a home on Radcliffe Avenue on Jan. 14, and then took a pocketbook and a man's watch from the residence, police said.

He was unable to sell the items and tossed them into a nearby pond, police said.

On Jan. 16, he entered a Heisser Lane residence and took a Hewlett-Packard laptop and an Apple iPod Touch.

A subsequent investigation by Second Squad detectives led to the recovery of the items after they were sold to a pawnshop, police said.

Avena was arrested Thursday after turning himself in at the Second Precinct, police said.

Items stolen in the first burglary were not recovered.
