THE BUDGET

The district proposes a $59,494,066 budget for 2015-16, a 3.95 percent increase from the current $57,235,856. The tax levy would increase 2.61 percent, from $42,924,873 to $44,047,044.

The levy is equal to the state's tax cap of 2.61 percent, so a simple majority is required to approve the budget.

School taxes paid on the average single-family home would rise 2.53 percent, from $6,877.25 to $7,051.50. Teachers' salaries would be frozen for 2015-16.

The budget does not cut programs or services and district officials did not report any additional programs for 2015-16.
