The Southern State Parkway's westbound lanes in Baldwin were closed briefly Tuesday morning because of a car fire, the state Department of Transportation said.

The DOT said a car fire at Exit 20, Grand Avenue, had stopped traffic in all lanes at 9:55 a.m.

Within an hour all lanes had been reopened, the DOT said.

The state's website, informny.com, did not have any more details about the car fire, and an inquiry to State Police for more information was not immediately returned.
