A multivehicle accident, including a rollover and fuel spill, caused the closure of the westbound Southern State Parkway in North Valley Stream for almost two hours on Wednesday, State Police said.

The accident occurred at about 11:25 a.m. just west of the State Police barracks near Exit 15, police said. The road was closed between Exit 15, Corona Avenue, and Exit 13, Central Avenue, with traffic being diverted off the road at Exit 15.

The road was reopened shortly after 1 p.m., according to the state Department of Transportation website.

Traffic cameras showed the right-hand lane still closed because of to police presence and remaining cleanup efforts.

It was not immediately clear how many vehicles were involved in the crash.

Police said it also was not immediately clear if there were serious injuries.

Surveillance footage from the scene showed DOT crews cleaning up the fuel spill. At one point, those traffic cameras also showed traffic backed up to Exit 17 in Malverne.
