Westbound Southern State reopens after crash
An accident closed the westbound Southern State Parkway just east of Exit 25, Newbridge Road, in North Bellmore for about a half-hour Friday morning, state police said.
The accident occurred at 10:45 a.m. Police said it was not immediately clear if anyone was seriously injured.
The road was reopened at about 11:15 a.m., the New York State Department of Transportation said. The NYSDOT also initially reported the car involved in the crash had overturned. Police said that report could not be confirmed.
The closure caused brief backups to westbound traffic.
