Westbury may soon have a few more taxi cabs serving the village of about 15,000.
The board is considering a proposal to authorize additional licenses and will discuss the matter at a public hearing today.
Over the years, there have been multiple requests from taxi companies to add more cabs, said Village Attorney Anna Vikse. There are about 40 cabs operating in the village, and the board is considering increasing the number by 1 to 4 more vehicles.
The public hearing will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 235 Lincoln Place, Westbury.
