Westbury crash kills pedestrian on Old Country Road, police say

A vehicle struck and killed a woman on Old Country Road in Westbury on Thursday night, Nassau County police said.

The pedestrian, 63, was trying to cross Old Country Road at School Street at 8:42 p.m., police said in a news release Friday. A westbound vehicle struck her.

The woman, whose identity was not released pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene and was transported to a hospital for "stress-related treatment," police said. The driver was also not identified.

Police are investigating the crash.
