4 officers hurt in Westbury house fire, cops say
Four Nassau County officers suffered injuries Saturday morning while searching a Westbury home that had caught fire, police said.
The officers responded to the blaze on Stewart Avenue around 9 a.m. Saturday and searched the home for occupants. No one was inside, police told Newsday.
Four officers suffered smoke inhalation. One of them sustained a cut on his leg while searching the home. The officers were taken to a local hospital for treatment and released Saturday, police said.
The fire was extinguished by the Westbury Fire Department with help from five local departments. The fire is under investigation and is not considered suspicious, police said.
