One worker sustained burns when a vehicle on a lift erupted in flames Monday morning at a Westbury auto repair shop, Hicksville fire officials said.

Firefighters were dispatched at approximately 9:05 a.m. to the Westbury Jeep Chrysler Dodge Ram Service & Parts, located at 111 Bond St., fire officials said.

“It was a car fire inside the building,” Nassau County Chief Fire Marshal Michael Uttaro said. "Thankfully, the fire sprinkler system did its job and helped to extinguish the fire, along with the fire department responding.”

The employee was taken to Nassau University Medical Center by Nassau police, fire officials said.

No other injuries were reported, Uttaro added.

Westbury Jeep had no immediate comment.
