A Westbury man was arrested and charged with drug possession after undercover officers conducting an investigation saw him toss a bag of cocaine into an unoccupied vehicle Monday afternoon in Syosset, police said.
Bettis Richardson, 51, of 350 Magnolia Ave., was arrested in the lot on Jericho Turnpike at 3:35 p.m. on charges of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
He is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Nassau County police said the officers, from the Bureau of Special Operations, saw Richardson approach the unoccupied 2013 Dodge in the lot, then toss "a clear plastic bag containing cocaine" on to the passenger side floor.
Richardson was arrested without incident, police said.
