A Westbury man, discovered on the roof of Westbury bar and grill Tuesday morning, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief, attempted burglary and arson, police said.

Gregory Neway, 32, of 499 Jerusalem Ave., was attempting to enter Nawtons Bar and Grill at 850 Carman Ave., about 4 a.m., police said. He damaged a window and a commercial air conditioner and was attempting to ignite a natural gas line when he was taken into custody, police said.

The total damage is estimated at about $3,000, police said.

Neway was to be arraigned Wednesday in First District Court, Hempstead.
