Westbury road reopens after LIRR overpass hit, cops say
A tractor-trailer struck the Long Island Rail Road overpass on Post Avenue in Westbury on Wednesday, briefly closing the northbound roadway, Nassau County police said.
The railroad said it does not believe the accident will impact train service through the area.
The accident occurred at 12:30 p.m., police said. The road reopened about 1:30 p.m., police said.
A railroad spokeswoman said a bridge inspector was en route to the scene to assess any damage.
Police said the truck struck the overpass and became wedged underneath, forcing closure of the northbound road.
It was not clear if anyone was injured.
