Nassau County police arrested a Port Washington woman Friday evening for driving while intoxicated with her two young children in the vehicle -- a violation of Leandra's Law.

Officers from Nassau's Second Precinct responded to a call of a disturbance at Northern Boulevard and Oyster Bay Road in East Norwich at 6:47 p.m. and found Whitney Gold, 34, of The Quarter Deck, outside of her 2015 Cadillac Escalade arguing with a female friend, police said.

Inside the Cadillac were Gold's two children: a 9-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy, authorities said.

During the investigation, officers learned Gold had been driving the vehicle, allegedly while intoxicated. She was arrested without incident while the children were released to a family member at the scene.

Leandra's Law makes it a felony, even on first offense, to drive drunk with children 15 years or younger in the vehicle.

Gold is charged with two counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger, DWI, operating a motor vehicle above 0.1 percent blood alcohol concentration, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and operating a motor vehicle without a license.

She is expected to be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
