The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory Friday until midnight for Long Island and most of the Northeast region.

Winds from the west will range from 25 mph to 28 mph, with gusts up to 47 mph.

And the cold front means temperatures will fall from the high 40s to low 30s by Friday's evening commute, the Upton-based service said.

Rain is likely, with the chance of precipitation at 40 percent, mainly before 11 a.m.

Flight delays are being reported at area airports, with some arrivals at LaGuardia Airport held up an average of 1 hour and 36 minutes, according to the Federal Aviation Administration website.

Departures and arrivals at Kennedy Airport and Long Island MacArthur Airport are experiencing delays of 15 minutes or less, according to the FAA.

As for power, 218 customers had experienced outages, including 96 in Southampton, 42 in North Hempstead, and 26 in Hempstead, according to the Long Island Power Authority website. Power has mostly been restored in those areas, but there are 78 customers across Long Island who are still affected, according to the site.

Looking ahead to Saturday, the cold front could lead to daytime flurries but no accumulation, forecasters said.

Friday's evening forecast is mostly cloudy, with a low of 24 degrees. Once Saturday morning arrives, the west wind is likely to die down to breezes of 11 mph to 15 mph.

Saturday calls for a high of 36 degrees, with nighttime low of 18.

Both Saturday and Sunday are also expected to be dry.
