Woman, 80, killed by car in Herricks
An 80-year-old woman walking on Shelter Rock Road in Herricks was hit and killed by a car Sunday, Nassau County police said.
The woman was at the intersection of Shelter Rock Road and Moore Street at about 7:05 p.m. when she was hit by a 1999 Toyota driven by a 71-year-old man, police said.
The woman was taken to Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, where she was pronounced dead, police said.
Police did not release the names of the woman or the driver and said there was no apparent criminality related to the accident.
