Woman charged in Williston Park stabbing
A 49-year-old woman was held without bail after police said she stabbed a man in the back with a kitchen knife in a Williston Park apartment, leaving the victim with a punctured lung.
Sharon Mongello of Williston Park was charged with first-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, Nassau police said early Friday. She was being held without bail until her next scheduled court appearance Monday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Responding officers arrested Mongello on the street following the Willis Avenue incident on Thursday at 1:29 p.m., police said.
"The victim sustained a serious wound which punctured his left lung," and was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was in stable condition.
In a news release, police did not say how, or if, the victim and suspect know each other.
