A woman was found critically injured at the Massapequa Park station Tuesday after she fell about 20 feet from the elevated tracks, according to the Long Island Rail Road.

The woman was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow in critical condition, LIRR spokesman Sam Zambuto said.

The MTA police were investigating the incident as a possible suicide attempt, he said.

"Her injuries were the result of her fall from the track viaduct. She fell from the elevated track to the street," Zambuto said. "It appears she was not struck by the train."

The woman's identity was not released. Zambuto said she was in her 50s.

A train was entering the station around the time of the woman's fall at about 12:30 p.m., he said, but "how she was on the track was under investigation at this point."

Regular service on the Babylon branch was restored about 2 p.m. after delays of up to 15 minutes.
