Nassau County police are investigating a shooting in Roosevelt on Friday that injured a 19-year-old woman.

The woman was walking at the intersection of Pleasant and Westfield avenues about 8 p.m. when she heard a gunshot and felt a burning sensation in her lower leg, police said.

She went home and called police, and was later treated at a hospital and released.

The woman could not determine what direction the bullet came from or where the shooter may have been, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
