A Freeport woman was killed early Thursday in a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer on Guinea Woods Road in Old Westbury, Nassau County police said.

The identity of the woman, 22, has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

Police said the driver of the tractor-trailer, 35, of Monmouth Junction, N.J., was taken to a hospital for observation. He was not identified.

The crash occurred at 12:16 a.m. as the woman, driving a 1993 Mercury Sable, was headed south on Guinea Woods Road near Willets Road. Police said the car crossed over into the northbound lane and collided with a Freightliner tractor-trailer. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Police said no charges are pending.
