Woman struck by vehicle in Bellmore

A woman suffered a leg injury after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday near the intersection of Bellmore Avenue and Sunrise Highway in Bellmore, Nassau County police said.

The accident occurred at 7:49 a.m., police said.

The accident scene is not far from the Long Island Rail Road station in Bellmore.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and the cause of the pedestrian accident is being investigated.

The woman was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow.
