Women veterans find their 'Own Voice'
WHAT "In Our Own Voice -- Women Veterans Tell Their Story," monologues based on interviews with women veterans and women still serving, will be presented by the Manhattan-based Psychotherapy & Spirituality Institute and the women's group of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Shelter Rock. "With women representing 15 percent of the military, it is our belief that the experience of women needs to be represented more fully," says Mary Ragan, project manager for "Voices." A discussion follows the monologues.

WHAT "Interview," by the late author and playwright Douglas MacLeod, premieres at this weekend's third annual Northport One-Act Play Festival. Each session of one-acts over the three days focuses on a theme, including a slate of student shorts on "Combating Bullying."

MUSIC & DANCE: 'From Class to Classics'
WHAT Long Island Ballet Theatre, "Little Juilliard" to its fans, goes international for a free evening of dance and music, "From Class to Classics." Recording artist Innesa, a native Ukrainian violinist, brings her Gypsy-style folk to Huntington, joined onstage by LIBT student dancers. Flamenco artist Sophia Akhund of Huntington steps out in her flashy costumes, followed by a contemporary ballet choreographed by company faculty members Sonia Jones and Melissa Bobick. Artistic director Christopher Fleming lends an American accent to the evening with his "Connick Suite," danced to the jazz stylings of Harry Connick Jr., played by a Suzuki violin ensemble of 8- to 12-year-olds.
