A 6-year-old girl was hurt when she was struck by a car while trying to cross the street in Woodmere Wednesday afternoon, Nassau police said.

Nassau Police Fourth Squad detectives said the girl was hit by a southbound 2015 Infiniti as she tried to cross Barnard Avenue near Poe Street at about 1:45 p.m.

The girl suffered nonlife-threatening injuries and was treated at a hospital.

Police said brake safety checks were performed on the vehicle at the scene and that the accident is being treated as a noncriminal incident.
