A funeral Mass was to be held Saturday morning for Anthony J. Stupore, a partner in the Jericho office of Deloitte & Touche LLP who also was active in the Boy Scouts and United Way. He died at his home in Northport Wednesday at 54.

Stupore, born in Queens and raised in Syosset, joined the international accounting and consulting firm after earning a master's degree in business administration from New York University. He worked for Deloitte for more than 30 years and was most recently in charge of the firm's New York commercial practice, said one of his sons, Gregory of Brooklyn. He also held a bachelor's degree in public accounting from Hofstra University.

A colleague at Deloitte got him interested in Scouting, his son said, and Stupore served from 2008 to 2010 as president of the Suffolk County Council of the Boy Scouts of America. "He just loved it and stayed with it," Gregory said.

Stupore remained active with the group until his death, as a member of the council's executive board and the council's vice president, according the group's website. "There will certainly be a big void in the Scouting community with his absence," said Mark R. Businski, current council president.

In June 2011, Stupore was the honoree at the council's 39th annual Good Scout Golf Tournament, its website said.

He had been active with United Way since the 1990s and became a board member in 1997, said Jim Sands, United Way's chief financial officer. He was the group's treasurer when he died and chaired the board's finance and administration committee and its investment committee.

Stupore was an avid golfer, fisherman, boater and card player, said his son. "He loved being out on the water," Gregory said.

Arrangements were handled by the Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home in Northport, where a wake was held Thursday and Friday.

Mass is to be at 9:30 a.m. at The Church of St. Patrick, 400 Main St., Huntington.

Survivors also include his wife, Carol, and two other sons, Matthew, of Manhattan and Christopher, of Northport.
