• Gallant, 37, of Amity Harbor, is a registered Democrat and is running on the Democratic party line in the general election.
• He is a former Federal Aviation Administration air traffic controller and union officer, a helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army National Guard and also serves as a volunteer firefighter.
• Gallant received a bachelor’s degree in aviation management from Dowling College in Oakdale.

ISSUES

• Gallant is critical of what he says was the taking away by Republicans of healthcare access from 63,000 Long Islanders.
• He criticized the Trump administration's tariffs and sending billions of dollars overseas for military action against Iran.
• Gallant also has focused on public safety, taking care of veterans and improving infrastructure and transportation.
