Delia M. DeRiggi Whitton

DeRiggi Whitton, 58, is a registered Democrat seeking re-election on the Democratic line in the general election. She has served as a county legislator since 2012, becoming the party's minority leader in 2023.
A lifelong resident of Glen Cove, she has a bachelor's degree from Hofstra University.
Before joining the legislature, DeRiggi Whitton served on the Glen Cove City Council as a Republican. She also worked as a senior claims adjuster for State Farm.

DeRiggi Whitton wants to continue to push Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman to release the approximately $90 million the county won in the Purdue Pharma settlement to social service agencies.
She hopes to influence the State Legislature to pass more grants in Democratic districts.
DeRiggi Whitton wants to accelerate the completion of various infrastructure projects in the Capital Plan, to "keep a closer eye on our streets."
