JEANINE C. DRISCOLL

Republican

BACKGROUND:

  • Driscoll, 57, is seeking her second term as receiver of taxes and is also running on the Conservative Party line. She lives in Floral Park.
  • She won her first term in 2019 after a 28-year career as a lawyer focused on litigation at a Manhattan firm. She also served as associate village justice of Bellerose Village in the Justice Court.
  • She received a bachelor's in American politics from The Catholic University of America and a law degree from Fordham University School of Law.

ISSUES:

  • Driscoll offers about 60 tax seminars a year on property tax exemptions and the tax grieving process, held at libraries and other locations across town; she said she would expand that program.
  • She said she is lobbying credit card companies to lower the fees they charge when residents make property tax payments by card.
  • Her office has worked to make paying taxes as easy as possible, she said. In addition to cash and check, it accepts payments by e-check and automatic debit. It also offers in-person service at walk-up and drive-through booths at locations around town.
