BACKGROUND:

  • Pravato, 55, of Massapequa Park, is running for reelection for Oyster Bay receiver of taxes.
  • He previously served as the mayor of Massapequa Park, worked as a deputy commissioner of the Oyster Bay Department of Public Works and worked in the finance industry. 
  • He graduated from Long Island University.

ISSUES:

  • Pravato said he wants to expand existing tax grievance workshops to help property owners challenge their tax assessments.
  • He said he wants to explore additional options for allowing online tax payments, such as using services like PayPal and Apple Pay.
  • He said he wants to negotiate with banks to get higher interest rates on town deposits.
