BACKGROUND:
- Marcoccia, 74, of East Setauket, is seeking his fifth four-year term.
- Before his town service, he owned a computer consulting firm, MTS, with 50 employees.
- He received an associate degree in computer programming from Suffolk County Community College.
ISSUES:
- Marcoccia said he has made the Receiver of Taxes office more efficient by cutting staff by 40% through attrition, saving millions of dollars in salaries and benefits. The office is staffed by nine full-time employees and adds nine additional staff from December to June, when taxes are paid.
- He said 65% of residents pay taxes online after he led efforts to automate services.
- He said he would continue efforts to improve efficiency and customer service.
