Joe Scianablo

BACKGROUND

• Scianablo, 49, of Garden City, is a registered Democrat and is running on the Democratic line in a rematch of last year's general election.
• He is a former Queens County prosecutor, retired NYPD officer and a U.S. Marine combat veteran who served in Iraq.
• Scianablo received his undergraduate degree in criminal justice from St. John’s University and his law degree from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in Hempstead.

ISSUES

• Scianablo said he wants a "full financial and operational audit" of town contracts, expenditures and town-owned properties to identify wasteful spending and "redirect those resources back where they belong to the people."
• He said reviewing existing debt is another priority to "establish responsible standards for future borrowing." He said the town needs to rebuild its reserves.
• Expanding veterans services and supporting small businesses in the town is another priority, he said.
