Suffolk County Community College so far has been billed $8,606 by the special ethics counsel who was hired to review "breach of confidentiality" allegations at the college.

Drew Biondo, college spokesman, said the figure is for legal fees through the end of May. More recently, the college's outside ethics counsel, Steven Leventhal, met with the college board of trustees in executive session last week in Riverhead. New board chair Theresa Sanders at that time called the ethics probe still an "open issue."

While no details of the breach have been made public, former board chairwoman Dafny Irizarry has left a number of board meetings where the issue was discussed in executive session. In May, Irizarry, accompanied by her lawyer, also met in executive session with the board and Leventhal.

Last year, a trustee board committee also spent $5,000 hiring a private security firm which did a secret report on the allegations
