Democrat Todd Kaminsky has raised $77,000 in the days leading up to the April 19 special election to replace former State Sen. Dean Skelos while Republican Christopher McGrath has brought in more than $41,000, according to campaign finance reports.

Contributors to Kaminsky, a state assemblyman from Long Beach, included Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s 2018 re-election committee, which gave $11,000, according to daily State Board of Elections filings from April 5 through April 13.

Kaminsky (D-Long Beach) also got $5,000 from Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and $11,000 from developer Scott Rechler.

McGrath, a personal injury attorney from Hewlett, raised $41,400 over the period.

Contributors included Manhattan hedge fund manager Daniel Loeb, who sits on the board of StudentsFirst, a pro-charter school group whose political action committee funded a $1.2 million ad buy against Kaminsky. Loeb donated $11,000.

McGrath also received $10,000 from the Nassau Police Benevolent Association and $2,000 from Nassau County Legis. Denise Ford (R-Long Beach).

“Todd Kaminsky is the only candidate who has a real plan to take on corruption and he is incredibly grateful for the recent support he has received,” said campaign spokesman Evan Thies.

“A strong cross section of New Yorkers are putting their trust behind Chris McGrath because they know he will stand up to Bill de Blasio, turn back the New York City Democrats and ensure that Long Island gets its fair share,” said Senate GOP spokesman Scott Reif.

The Nassau Democratic Committee collected nearly $200,000 in the past week, largely from its April 4 spring dinner, according to the 24-hour notice reports, which list contributions in the final two weeks of the campaign. Party Chairman Jay Jacobs said he expects to spend some of the money on Kaminsky’s campaign.

The campaigns also touted new endorsements.

Education activist and author Diane Ravitch backed Kaminsky, calling him “a great friend of public schools and teachers.”

McGrath was endorsed by the Boilermakers union Local 5, which represents construction and maintenance workers.

Rep Peter King (R-Seaford), who has endorsed McGrath, also released an online video in which he says the Hewlett attorney “would bring integrity and honesty” to the Senate.

Kaminsky also released a new TV ad featuring local parents, community leaders and Superstorm Sandy victims touting his candidacy.

Kaminsky and McGrath are vying for the 9th Senate District seat, which was vacated in December when Skelos was convicted on federal corruption charges. He and his son, Adam, who also was convicted in the case, are appealing.
