The Long Island Church of Scientology has purchased an office building in Melville, Huntington Town officials said Friday.

Huntington officials said the church bought the 62,500 square-foot office building last month at 263 Old Country Rd., at the corner of New York Avenue, for $15.2 million.

Town officials said the church has not announced any plans for the building, which was sold by Melville-based Harvest Real Estate.

The local Church of Scientology currently lists its church in Bethpage, located in an office suite at a business park next to a T-Mobile store on Broadway.

The Melville office building was the former corporate headquarters of ADI Global, a distributor of security products. It was listed for lease and sale after they moved.

The 1999 office building was advertised as a campus setting, with a two-story window facade. It is zoned for commercial and medical use, according to the realty listing.

Officials with the Long Island, Manhattan and the Church of Scientology International did not respond to requests for comment Friday.

The Long Island Church of Scientology was founded in 1993 in Hicksville, according to financial records listing it as a nonprofit entity. The organization was not required to file annual IRS returns because it is a church. The church was also previously listed in Islip.

The church lists locations in Times Square in Manhattan and Harlem.

Scientology is based on the writings of science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard and “the precise path leading to a complete and certain understanding of one’s true spiritual nature and one’s relationship to self, family, groups, Mankind, all life-forms, the material universe, the spiritual universe and the Supreme Being,” according to the Long Island church’s website.
